11 months update

Cody is running around the house now! He has six teeth, four on top and two on the bottom. He is eating all kinds of solid foods (veggie puffs are his favorite right now). We had to turn his car seat around because he is getting too tall to ride facing backwards. His tricks include washing his own face, making “tractor”, “moo” and “clicking” noises.

Bluegrass ‘n’ babies

Last weekend, the fam and I headed downtown to hear a band called “Grass it Up”. It was a lot of fun! They played from 12-2 and the weather was great! Lots of fun things for the kiddos to do (our friend Tim came with his two girls) and great food and fun! Here are some pictures!

Cody’s new snacks (a rave)

Since Cody is teething (five is the count now) we thought he could try some Gerber Graduates! These little strawberry puff snacks are kind of like Cheerios but softer and can melt in his mouth. He is able to grab them easily and give them a crunch! I really like these little puffs except for the fact that sugar is the 5th ingredient…I’d rather it be none, but at least it’s not the first!

Super Cuts = Super Powers!

Today Cody had a record two “firsts”! He had his first haircut and also started walking! That’s right! Not just cruising…not using his walker and NOT holding on to mom’s hands! Both his father and I were there to see his first steps! We were all playing in his room when all of a sudden…he turned away from the futon he was holding onto and took about 10 steps forward then turned left and took a couple more steps! So cool! I guess going to Super Cuts makes you have super baby powers!! I’ll be posting video soon, but meanwhile, enjoy his first haircut picture!

April Update

Well, it’s been quite awhile since I’ve had time to sit down and write! First my husband’s laptop quit on us and now…it’s like my laptop caught his bug as well! It only works in “Safe Mode”! Do you even know how annoying that is?!?!

Besides computer troubles, Cody has a third tooth coming in…his top right one. It looks about the size of an adult tooth! HUGE! He is also trying more solid foods, so my fears have diminished a little! So far I have seen him eat pears, bread, and mushed bananas. He is also moving into Gerber 3 foods but he did not agree with the broccoli, cheese and carrots at all!!

His first birthday is coming up as well as his year check-up! I can’t wait to hear all the details about his growth and development!

More things he is doing is pointing and grunting a sound when he wanted something. He is also throwing some serious tantrums during feeding time! He takes two 2 hour naps a day and only wakes up twice during the night, which if I were a morning person…would only be once! He wakes up at 10pm and then again at 5am.  So if I could get up in the morning, it would be great! Oh well! Maybe someday!

So big, daww, teeth and claps

Cody is 10 months now and is learning all sorts of new things! His latest has been to throw his arms over his head for “so big”. It’s very cute but for some reason he like doing this during feeding time so when he feels like throwing his arms up, the bowl and spoon go along as well. Another cool thing he is doing is when our dogs bark outside, he pauses for a moment and says “daww” (well at least that’s what it sounds like). But it’s just the fact that he is stopping play to acknowledge that he heard a dog. His last cool discovery was also at dinner when he smacked is hands together, looked at me, then did it again, and again, and again! He started to clap! But the COOLEST thing is his teeth! He has two bottom front teeth coming in! They are so cute! He really hasn’t been to fussy except for one night! The Doctor recommended infant Tylenol and of course we provide Cody with a vast plethora of teething toys. Here is a picture of him and his teeth!

Ready for summer!

Today is a beautiful day! It is SCREAMING spring!! All doors and windows to our house are open, yard projects are going on, birds are chirping and Cody is ready for summer! He loves venturing outside and gets upset when he can’t! Today we put on his walkin’ shoes, a hat and some sun screen and sent him outside on the porch in his walker. What fun! He enjoyed watching the dogs play ball and even tried to chase them! Cody also got to swing in our hammock chair…I highly recommend them, not only a relaxing spot for mama but for baby as well. So, to prepare Cody for summer, here are a few things I always make sure I have nearby:

-Hat with visor and neck/ear coverage

-Baby sunscreen (I recommend Banana Boat Baby Tear Free SPF 50)

-A light wind jacket/pants

-His juice or water in a sippy cup

These are just a couple of the must-haves for him to be out an about by our house…if we venture to the park down the road…then I have to pack a huge bag! More on that later!

Brushing teeth

Cody got to brush his “teeth” tonight! It’s more like brushing his gums, but at least he gets the idea! We both had a lot of fun with this activity! It comes with a little “finger brush” and little tube of apple/banana flavored wanna-be toothpaste! At first it was weird for him but then he loved it! He didn’t know whether to chew on it or suck on it like a bottle. I massaged his gums for a bit and his two teeth nubs on the bottom. Fun was had by all and hopefully I can prepare him for his first visit to the dentist!!

Who goes there?!?

On top of all of the smart little tricks Cody knows…he has figured out the secret to his bedroom door. Unfortunately, his bedroom is so small, we have nowhere else to put his crib except by the door. His arm is just long enough (if he squishes his face on the crib rails) to get his little fingers on the door knob, pull the door, and look out into the kitchen!

It’s so cute to see his little arm reaching out from the darkness!
